It was made available to players on Steam on 2015 (NA version) and 2017 (EU version). The NA/EU version originally required a subscription to play but in February 2013, the game re-released as TERA: Rising and became free to play. The game originally released in Korea in January 2011 and was brought to NA and EU players in May of 2012 by En Masse Entertainment and Gameforge. TERA is a fantasy MMORPG developed by Bluehole Studio. It's just a shame that it couldn't polish its rough edges to truly shine.The Exiled Realm of Arborea a.k.a. As it stands, however, its combat is the only thing that really makes it special, and there's not much to push you forward other than a want to experience all the combat has to offer. If it was released back alongside World of Warcraft, it might have revolutionized the genre. Its quest structure, crafting, and story are all behind the curve when it comes to modern MMORPGs. However, everything outside of that is dreadfully dated. As you begin playing, you'll find that the game does indeed deliver on its promise of action-based combat.

TERA Online, however, aims to change that. Not only that, it isn't exactly thrilling most of the time - only the most challenging dungeons and raids require you to have your brain turned on. While many would argue that form of combat is plenty tactical (being an endgame FFXIV player, I would agree), it doesn't hold a candle to proper action games when it comes to split second decisions. There are very few action MMORPGs out there - most of the genre has been defined by World of Warcraft and similarly follows that combat formula.
